As winter break approaches, we are thrilled to invite you to a series of fantastic events that highlight the incredible creativity and talent of our students. Join us for special opportunities to connect with fellow parents, celebrate your children’s achievements, and support our school community. We encourage you to come early and visit the book fair before the music performances and take a stroll through the student art displays afterward. Let’s come together to celebrate the vibrant talent and hard work of our students and enjoy the spirit of the season!
Musical Performances by Dr. Branch and Our Students 
Enjoy a glimpse into the vocal music your children have been working on in music class. These morning performances in the gym promise to be heartwarming and festive!
Grades K–2: Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, from 9:30–10:00 a.m. Kindergarten – 2nd grade classes will perform in the gym four songs entitled “Steady Beat”, Scooby Doo Theme Song”, “Flintstones Theme Song”, and “Sing from Sesame Street”.
Grades 3–5: Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, from 9:30–10:00 a.m. The 3rd – 5th grade classes will perform in the gym four songs entitled “Top Cat Theme Songs”, “Flintstones Theme Song”, “Josie & the Pussycats Theme Song”, and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
The performances will highlight the vocal work of our students. A school choral program assessment is important for our music program. This is where students are given the opportunity to show a level of performance with the use of aural music, notation, the power of memory and concentration, and critical reflection. The event is significant because it helps to recognize the importance of music education in the District of Columbia Public Schools and at Murch.
The Book Fair: Shop For A Cause 
Our annual book fair will be held in the library, offering a fantastic selection of books for every age. Proceeds support our school and foster a love of reading!

Afternoons: 3:00–5:30 p.m. - Special Event: On Wednesday, December 11, 2024 join us for a Coffee in the Library sponsored by the HSA from 8-9 a.m. Sip your favorite brew and shop for books!
- Special Event: On Wednesday, December 11, 2024 The Big Cheese Food Truck will be parked on Davenport St NW from 4-6 p.m. You are invited to shop for books and purchase dinner on your way out!
Student Art Showcase by Ms. Kay and Our Students 
As you visit the school all week long, don’t miss the stunning artwork created by our talented students, displayed on the first and second floors. This showcase offers a wonderful peek into their artistic growth and creativity.
